The site above is part of a nationwide group of Fitness Centres who like many commercial businesses are conscious of their annual energy spend and contacted the Carbon Trust to advise on energy saving measures.
The Trust via one of their energy consultants recommended they look at the electrical efficiency of the main supply as the electricity bills indicated a poor efficiency of only 80%, Power Efficient Systems via their Carbon Trust Account contacted the Fitness Center and examined the supply.
The Power Factor Correction equipment had been installed many years before and appeared to be functional although on careful examination it was found to be faulty.
The Power Factor Correction equipment was repaired within two weeks of our initial contact and the site is now 99% electrically efficient.
Looking back over the electricity bills it soon became apparent that the Power Factor Correction equipment had actually failed some four years ago and as such over £8000.00 of savings have been lost all for the sake of a planned maintenance scheme that would have identified the fault much earlier and which is also now in place.
