The above client applied for the installation of a larger electrical supply costing around £90K as the existing supply was somewhat overloaded and a new 100kw machine had to be installed to keep up with their customer demand, United Utilities (the local DNO for the area) requested that the client should check the efficiency of the supply as part of the process of granting their application.
The client contacted Power Efficient Systems, who requested the last three electricity bills, the bills indicate an inefficient supply at only 76% efficient (0.76pf), we carried out an initial survey and not only removed the need for a new supply but also generated the above savings by installing Power Factor Correction equipment onto the main incoming supply.
The installation of the Power Factor Correction equipment released 283A (203kva) of which 141A was allocated to the new machine, the need for a new supply was removed, the supply was now free from potential overload and the client could meet their customers demand.
A further bonus was that we identified the client as a user of less than 6000MW/h per annum which entitled the client to an interest free unsecured loan from the Carbon Trust which paid for the works, Power Efficient Systems completed all the online paperwork and forms, the client confirmed the details as correct, the loan was secured and paid directly to the client, the works were completed and the site is now 99% electrically efficient.
