Gary Vizard, the managing director of the company, started Power Efficient Systems Ltd back in January 2002 which will make the company 10 years old in January; Gary followed in the footsteps of his Grandfather Albert Vizard and started his working career as a technical apprentice with British Aerospace winning apprentice of the year in 1984 and later completing a fully indentured EITB apprenticeship in 1986.
Gary’s first exploits into the power quality market came in 1991 when he joined Power Economy the then market leader for power quality products as a self employed technician working free lance on various projects across the globe from the Ministry of Energy & Water in Oman to Torah Cement in Egypt and many other Middle Eastern & European project on both LV and HV systems up to 33kv. Gary rose through the managerial ranks and in 2002 decided to embark on a new challenge and incorporate Power Efficient Systems in the January of that year.
PES manufacture, install & maintain power saving systems like EnergyAce our Power Optimisation system that returns an energy saving by controlling the voltage that enters a site & Power Factor Correction that returns an energy savings by improving the overall electrical efficiency of a site, both systems are complimentary and will return a clients investment typically between 6 months – 2 years with the correct application.
PES offer design and build services for energy saving systems and handle enquiries right through from initial enquiries to the finished product and beyond through our dedicated team of service & maintenance personnel offering spare parts and planned & reactive maintenance across the UK & overseas.
The structure of the company is based on our manufacturing facility in Skelmersdale West Lancashire which handles most of the enquiries in association with satellite offices in Oxford & Glasgow and our maintenance department responsible for operations throughout the UK and beyond.
We became an ECA member in October 2010 mainly to help raise the profile of our company and gain credibility when installing equipment at a client’s site, this gives a client great confidence in our abilities which coupled with safeContractor accreditation and ISO 9001 demonstrates our competence and our commitment to quality & safety.
The main advantages to ECA accreditation are the ECA Bond Certificate scheme, the installation guarantee scheme that guarantees all our installations and ensures compliance with the relevant standards and regulations.
Other benefits include assistance with training, H&S and their employment guide that advises on all things appertaining to employment law.
Our business relies heavily on environmental awareness and the desire for sustainability and renewable, our energy saving systems assist greatly to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions although we find that there is still a lot of ignorance in industry towards energy savings and green issues where the main consideration still appear to be based mainly on cost reduction and not environmental.
Like our customers, our own company have recently invested in energy saving technology through the installation of EnergyAce our energy saving power optimisation system that has reduced energy costs by around 14%, in power factor correction that removes reactive power charges, reduces capacity charges and kw/h losses and also in energy efficient lighting in our offices and manufacturing facility, this combined approach has substantially reduced our own energy costs, removed hidden penalties from our electricity bills and reduced our carbon footprint.
Our approach to environmental issues is to champion the cause and enlighten industrial and commercial energy users on the various energy saving techniques that are available sometimes for very little cost to return a very short ROI of only months in some cases.
Sometimes it is good to target the low bearing fruit so to say and create large financial savings and reductions in carbon emissions for minimum investment before digging deep into the fabric of a business.
These simple energy saving techniques mainly carried out on the whole supply at source is commonly overlooked and in most organizations represent a huge opportunity to reduce costs.
One major project at the moment is to raise awareness of our Dynamic Energy Saver EnergyAce that will save a commercial / industrial user up to 20% on energy consumption across a plant, and up to 43% on lighting installations, our strategy to best demonstrate our capabilities and the USPs associated with our products is to secure a number of trials across a broad spectrum of operations.
We are currently engaged in trials with some of the biggest and well known utilities, high street retailers and supermarkets.
Times are hard at present for a lot of businesses , we were lucky last year and we grew our busyness by around 45% on the back of some USPs in our products, hard works and determination in association with the environmental market place, my advice to other businesses is to invest in energy savings systems now which will bring greater financial returns in the region of 10-20% and far greater than any financial sector products I am aware of in these current times.
Our future plans are to grow the business substantially making use of the latest government initiatives, CRC legislation, the Green deal and a number of other incentives along with our unique financial packages to offer our products at zero cost to the client while maintaining all the immediate benefits
